The Townsend Thoreson ferry The Herald of Free Enterprise capsized at 18:28 on 6 March 1987, shortly after leaving the Belgian port of Zeebrugge, killing 193 passengers and crew. Fortunately, she sank onto a sandbar, preventing the ship from sinking entirely and avoiding far greater loss of life. This image was created using promotional literature available at the time.
